How to play
Setup

Two players. Deal 6 cards each. Each player puts 2 cards face-down into the dealer's crib (a separate 4-card hand the dealer scores). The non-dealer cuts the deck; the dealer flips the top of the bottom pile as the starter. If it's a Jack, dealer scores 2 ("his heels").

The play (pegging)

Starting with the non-dealer, players take turns playing one card face-up, calling the running total aloud. Aces=1, face cards=10. The total cannot exceed 31. If you can't play without going over, say "go" — opponent pegs 1 and keeps playing what they can. Score combos as they happen.

The show

After the play, each player picks up their cards and counts their hand using the starter as a fifth card. Non-dealer counts first, then dealer, then dealer counts the crib. Reaching 121 mid-count ends the game immediately.

Pegging scoring

During the play: hitting 15 (=2), 31 (=2), pairs (=2), three of a kind (=6), four of a kind (=12), runs of 3+ (=length), and last card (=1 if not 31).

Hand & crib scoring

Fifteens (=2 each combination summing to 15), pairs (=2 each), runs (=length, scored per combination), flushes (4 cards same suit = 4; +1 if starter matches), and his nobs(=1 for Jack in your hand matching starter's suit). Crib flushes require all five cards to share suit.

End of game

First player to 121 wins. Loser under 91 is skunked; under 61 is double-skunked.
