Gin Rummy
How to play
Two players. Deal 10 cards each from a standard 52-card deck. Flip the next card face-up to start the discard pile; the rest forms the stock.
On your turn, draw the top card from the stock or the discard pile, then discard one card face-up. The goal is to organize your hand into melds: sets of 3+ cards of the same rank, or runs of 3+ consecutive cards in one suit. Unmelded cards are deadwood (Ace=1, face cards=10, others=face value).
When your deadwood is ≤ 10, you may knock to end the hand. With zero deadwood, you have gin. The defender may lay off their deadwood onto the knocker's melds (not allowed on gin).
Knocker scores the difference between opponent's deadwood and their own.
Gin scores opponent's deadwood plus a 25-point bonus.
If the defender's deadwood is ≤ the knocker's after laying off, they score the difference plus a 25-point bonus.
First player to 100 wins. Winner gets a 100-point game bonus; each player also gets 25 per hand they won (box bonus).
